Thank you for looking at my website, and I hope you get a feel of how I work from reading it .
I offer online, face to face, or walking sessions in a rural setting in Gloucestershire.
Some people can find making that first contact with a counsellor a daunting experience. It can feel like a step into the unknown and understandably it isn’t easy to trust a stranger with your innermost feelings. I hope that reading this website will give some idea of how I work, what counselling, psychotherapy and neuro-therapies are about, and whether I have the skills, training and experience which will suit your needs. I am always happy to have a no fee preliminary talk on the phone or email before making an appointment.
I am a accredited therapist with many years experience offering Counselling and Psychotherapy and EMI and EFT neurotherapy to adult individuals and young people over 16 . I work short term (6-12 weeks) or long term, depending on the specific needs of my client.
In addition to my counselling work, I worked for 12 years in a role which gave support to older people in my community and to those affected by cancer . This has helped me greatly in my understanding of the various problems that we can all face as we get older and in the specific issues that can arise dealing with a diagnosis, and living with a life threatening illness.
Prior to qualifying as a therapist, I spent many years involved in a national charity giving support to bereaved parents.
My training is as an Integrative Counsellor using Person Centred and Psychodynamic theory to underpin the focus of my work. I update my training on a regular basis and integrate that continuous learning in my day to day practice, according to the unique needs of each client I work with. That may be in the use of additional skills such as the CBT model of therapy, Inner Child work, and EMI neurotherapy.
As an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and member of the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (UKRCP), I work to the BACP Ethical Framework of Good Practice and am subject to its complaints procedures. You can find details of this framework on the LINKS page. I am fully insured and registered with ICO.
